Lake Scary
The first Lake Scary 5K was created by Lake Mary Prep School students in 2012 and became an avenue to help raise awareness and funds in Central Florida. All funds raised by the Prep School were donated to UCP of Central Florida. Lake Mary Prep began collaborating more closely with UCP Marketing and Development in 2016 to expand its audience reach and utilize resources from UCP.
The Annual Event branding was established by me in 2020. The branding consisted of the color palette, logo, and typefaces. It’s applied each year to updated social graphics, a medal design, website event and banner and in person prints.
2024 Event Photos and Materials
In 2024 the concept of “finisher medals” was established to create more engagement and worth while for participating runners. The themed elements typically consist of something in the spooky realm since the 5K takes place the weekend around Halloween. The medal highlights the themed icon of the year, with the Haunted House serving as the icon for 2024. The icon is also used in the general runner shirt design. UCP’s Human Resources Team has focused on creating healthy initiatives for team members and promoting UCP-sponsored teams for those who sign up. Team Members receive a special team shirt and have their registration fee waived for signing up.
